The Future of Metaverse and Art Presented by Multimodal AI
Multimodal Generative AI is conceived as the next-generation AI technology to provide a multisensory immersive experience. While traditional AI mainly operated on text, generative AI now leverages multimodality, generating outputs of various types, including text, images, videos, audio, and more, based on diverse sensory inputs.
In essence, it opens up possibilities for advancement in every industry. Various professions such as artists, lawyers, writers, scientists, and teachers can optimize time-consuming tasks like research, strategy development, document creation, and even artistic endeavors within the scope of data trained by multimodal AI tools. Our appreciation for good art has always had intangible and inherently unknowable characteristics. However, now, individuals visiting museums daily have the opportunity to gain insights into how their brains react to what they see. The UK's Art Fund has initiated a project to measure our reactions to various art pieces by visualizing brainwave activity in real-time. This project had a trial run earlier this month at the Courtauld Gallery in London and is set to tour some museums in the UK in 2024.
This fall, at least five Korean art exhibitions were held in major museums across the United States. The featured artworks range from early 12th-century stone tools to sculptures made of soap. The San Diego Museum of Art plans to incorporate various performances, including a K-pop dance group performing live. This convergence of diverse shows reflects museums' evolving perceptions of what kinds of art are suitable for exhibition spaces.
Samsung is collaborating with Samsung Display to produce the next-generation display, OLEDoS. There are reports that Apple is considering incorporating OLEDoS into its VR device, VisionPro, suggesting potential cooperation between Samsung and Apple in the future. According to semiconductor industry sources on the 2nd, Samsung Electronics' DS division has recently dispatched personnel to collaborate on the production of OLEDoS by Samsung Display, marking the beginning of substantial cooperation.
4. OpenAI’s Developer Event Sparks Excitement and Fear in AI World
After OpenAI's announcement, the AI industry is on edge with the unveiling of the tailored chatbot tool 'GPT' and the powerful and cost-effective 'GPT-4 Turbo.' The disclosure has led to concerns from big tech companies to startups. On the 7th, D Information noted, "OpenAI's announcement may not be groundbreaking in terms of innovative research, but some product improvements will undoubtedly impact certain well-known startups." It is also predicted that increased competition with foundational model companies like Anthropic or Meta.
